Offline Map Zoom Levels (0–15)

Map tiles are organized into zoom levels that determine how much detail you see on the map:

  • Zoom level 0 – The entire world fits into a single tile. Extremely low detail; continents only.
  • Zoom level 1–3 – Shows large regions and countries. Good for broad overviews but not useful for navigation.
  • Zoom level 4–6 – Displays major countries, regions, and large cities. Still low detail.
  • Zoom level 7–9 – Medium detail. Cities and major roads become visible. Suitable for browsing large geographic areas.
  • Zoom level 10–12 – High detail. City streets, neighborhoods, and geographic features appear clearly. Suitable for offline viewing of towns or city regions.
  • Zoom level 13–15 – Very high detail. All streets and small landmarks are visible. Level 15 is typically the maximum practical level for offline use, offering a clear and readable map.

⚠️ High zoom level

Higher zoom levels require exponentially more tiles. A small area at level 15 may require more storage than a very large area at level 10. Choose the lowest zoom level that still provides the clarity you need to optimize download time and disk usage.
