Getting Started
STView is a cross-platform desktop application for viewing, inspecting, and redistributing live and recorded motion imagery. It brings STANAG 4609 video, MISB KLV metadata, geospatial context, and operator tools into one workspace for both real-time monitoring and detailed post-mission review.
Main Features
- Open live and recorded media from local files, packet captures, and network sources including UDP, RTSP, HTTP, HTTPS, and SRT streams. See Opening Files And Streams.
- Review video precisely with play, pause, seek, scrubbing, and frame-by-frame stepping. See Playback Controls.
- Cut and export clips from recorded sources. Export STANAG 4609 clips as MPEG-TS to preserve the video, audio, and original KLV metadata, or choose MP4 and packet-capture formats for other workflows. See Cut.
- Inspect synchronized MISB KLV metadata in compact or detailed views, including nested local sets and human-readable tag descriptions, and export decoded metadata packets as JSON. See KLV Metadata.
- Build situational awareness by presenting platform, sensor, target, and other metadata-derived context on online or offline maps. See Map View.
- Use geospatial video tools to convert image pixels to geographic coordinates with the mouse or shared video marker, measure on-screen ground distances with the Ruler, and display a metadata-driven perspective Grid over the video.
- Run geospatial queries for sensor paths, filmed areas, and frame-center heatmaps, or find relevant ingested video by selecting an area on the map. See Map View.
- Build and display video overlays with live metadata values, compass and HUD elements, markers, and geospatial reference tools. Draw GeoJSON annotations over the video and import or export them for use in other tools. See Overlay Editor.
- Present VMTI metadata by drawing MISB ST 0903 moving-target indicators, tracks, labels, and related target information over the video and on the map. See Overlay Editor and Map View.
- Capture and organize findings by recording media, exporting snapshots with optional metadata, adding bookmarks, and saving sources as missions for later review. See Recording, Snapshots, Bookmarks, and Missions.
- Redistribute media by forwarding the original source or a composed Flywheel output to UDP, SRT, or WHIP receivers. See Recasting.
- Run optional object detection with compatible ONNX models and display detected objects over the video. See Object Detection.
- Automate and integrate the player with opt-in remote control over the local HTTP REST API or through the companion MCP server. See Local Automation API and MCP Server.
Download STView
Download the current STView installer from the STView Downloads page.
The downloads page lists the latest stable release, release notes, available installers, and older versions. Use the package that matches your operating system and follow the instructions shown on that page.
Platform Support

STView is packaged as a desktop application for:
- Windows
- macOS
- Linux
Availability can vary by release. If a package for your operating system is
shown as unavailable, check the latest release notes or use another published
version from the older versions section.

First Run
After launching STView, open media from File > Open File or File > Open Stream.
Use File > Open File for local recordings. Use File > Open Stream for live or network sources such as UDP, RTSP, HTTP, HTTPS, or SRT streams.
Once media is open, use the playback controls to start, pause, seek, step frame-by-frame, inspect stream details, view KLV metadata, open the map view, or configure overlays and recording.
License
Without a license, STView runs in demo mode. Demo mode lets you open and try the application, but some capabilities may be restricted.
To lift demo restrictions, request a license and apply it in STView. For more info, see License.
Version Updates
STView can check for newer versions from the configured release repository. Update options are available from Settings > Options.
