Playback Controls
The playback controls are designed for stream playback, file review, seeking, and frame-level inspection.
The controls located to the left of the timecode display provide the main playback and capture functions.

| Step Back | Moves backward by one frame or one step, when supported by the source. Useful for detailed frame inspection. |
| Play / Pause | Starts playback. During playback, this control can be used to pause the video. |
| Step Forward | Moves forward by one frame. Useful when inspecting a paused stream or reviewing metadata frame by frame. |
| Stop | Stops playback and returns the player to the stopped state. |
| Speed | Opens the playback-rate control for supported file sources. Rates range from -32x to 32x; negative values play in reverse and 0 pauses on the current frame. The available range can be lower for some sources. |
| Snapshot | Captures the current video frame as an image. When metadata is available, supported snapshot formats may include embedded metadata such as location or other KLV-derived information. |
| Bookmarks | Opens actions for adding a bookmark at the current position or viewing bookmarks for the current source. Bookmark markers also appear on the seek slider. |
| Recast | Starts or stops the configured network output for a live stream. This control is not shown for file sources. |
| Record | Starts or stops recording of the current stream or playback source. |
| Seek | The seek slider is located above the playback controls. It shows the current playback position and allows the operator to quickly move through the file or stream recording. The slider supports scrubbing, so the operator can drag it to preview and jump to a specific position in the video. |
Frame stepping, seeking, scrubbing, and playback-rate controls are shown only when the source supports them. Live streams normally show the Recast control instead of file-review controls.
The controls located to the right of the timecode display provide additional analysis and viewing tools.

| Situational Awareness Map | Opens or hides the map view, showing platform position, sensor footprint, or other available geospatial information from the KLV metadata. |
| 3D | Globe button immediately after Map. Opens or hides the separate 3D View, showing platforms and sensors from all open streams. |
| KLV Metadata Panel | Opens or hides the metadata presentation panel, where decoded MISB/KLV values can be inspected. |
| Marker | Enables or disables the shared geographic marker. The control is unavailable when overlays are disabled. |
| Object Detection | Enables or disables detection using the saved model and detection settings. A lock means the current license does not include Detect. |
| Tools | Opens the Cut, Ruler, and Grid actions. Cut is available for supported file-review sources; Ruler and Grid require overlays. |
| Overlay Editor | Opens or closes the overlay editor. Use Settings > Options > Overlay to disable the entire overlay subsystem. |
| Full Screen | Switches the video view to full-screen mode for focused monitoring or presentation. |
Press F11 to toggle full screen. Press Esc to leave full screen.
Timecode and seek slider
The center display shows the current playback timecode while media is playing or paused. For seekable sources, the slider above the controls shows playback position and duration. Dragging the slider previews and seeks to a new position. Colored markers identify saved bookmarks for the current source.
The speed button shows the selected rate, such as x1, x4, or -x2. Select
it and choose a detent on the rate control. Keyboard focus on the rate control
also supports the arrow, Home, and End keys.
Status bar
The status bar below the controls shows the current source, playback state,
frame rate, and KLV metadata rate. When the source contains audio and Decode
Audio is enabled, a speaker icon appears at the far right of the status bar.
Select the icon to open the horizontal volume slider. The percentage changes
from 0% (silent) to 100% (full volume), and the icon reflects muted, low,
and normal volume levels.
The selected volume applies immediately and is shared by all sources. STView saves it automatically and restores it the next time the application starts. The speaker icon is hidden when the source has no detected audio or audio decoding is disabled. Select the icon again, press Esc, or click elsewhere to close the slider.
During ingest or another long-running operation, the status bar can also show a progress indicator. Active or recently failed Recast and Recorder outputs appear between playback status and frame rate. Hover or keyboard-focus an output indicator to see its destination, state, measured bitrate, size when available, and current or most recent error.
