๐จTransport Error Indicator
The Transport Error Indicator (TEI) is a one-bit flag in the MPEG-TS packet header. When TEI is set, the packet is marked as having an uncorrectable transport error somewhere upstream. Receivers typically treat these packets as corrupted transport data.

What This Test Doesโ
The Transport Error Indicator test scans MPEG-TS packet headers and records an error when a packet arrives with the TEI bit set. Each finding includes the PID and packet location of the corrupted transport packet.
โ Pass Criteriaโ
The test passes when no packets are marked with the transport error indicator. Application result message:
No transport error indicator flags were detected.
โ Fail Criteriaโ
The test fails when one or more MPEG-TS packets have the TEI bit set. Typical causes include:
- RF or link-layer corruption before file capture
- Damaged source files or partial transfers
- Upstream demodulator or remux faults
Exampleโ
Here a chart that shows a file with 4 TEI marked packets.
